These thinning agents can consist of a variety of ingredients, from ethyl alcohol to propylene glycol, purified water, glycerin, witch hazel or even listerine. Ask the tattoo artist if they do mix their own tattoo ink, and what thinning agents they use so, again, you can check for known allergens for you. If you do react to the tattoo ink or a particular color of tattoo ink, you could notice a variety of reactions. Allergies can present as itchy, bumpy skin and if they become severe, this problem can spread well beyond the tattooed area.
